It's been great Xanga...

But I think it's time that we see other people...move on.

Yeah, it looks like I'm following in stomponfrog's shoes.  I've been considering leaving Xanga for awhile now, and it's apparent from my lack of entries.

LiveJournal is just much more appealing.  I've met new people and it's got great Comm's, among other things.

So, it's been great while it's lasted.  If anyone out there (besides stomponfrog's cause we've been there and done this already) wants to friend me over on LJ, I'm bassist08 over there too.

Here's the link if you need it.

The Four Wheeled Beast

I haven't been behind of the wheel since June of last year.  Yesterday, I saw a kid who is TWO grades behind me driving...and said screw this, I'm 18 and I'm gonna drive before the end of this year if it kills me.

So today, my Dad took me up to the school parking lot to drive around a bit.  I'm doing a lot better than I was, although I'm still convinced that wide left turns, and reverse are the works of the devil.  I've gotten better at parking too, so it wasn't a total loss.

If the damn instructor from the school ever calls, I'll be able to get true driving lessons.  My Dad's been teaching me so far, and it's been great, but it's kinda difficult to understand exactly what he wants me to do...his commands are pretty vague..."Watch it", "Turn a bit".

Watch what?  How much of  a bit?  Ah well...he did say that I'm doing a lot better than before, and I know for a fact that I'm much more relaxed.  We'll just have to see.

Other than that, nothing much has gone on this weekend.  Pit met yesterday.  Some of the songs are coming along pretty well, but there are a few that sound terrible.  The muscial is in less than two weeks, so we're really gonna have to start pounding.

Speaking of two weeks, we're going to Con the Sunday after the musical.  I think I'm just going to dig out my Iruka halloween costume and go as him.  It's too much work to put together an entire other costume in such short time.  I don't mind, but I would have liked to have gone as one of the Gotei 13, ah well, there's always next year.

We went into IUP for their "Unity Day" celebration on Saturday too.  It was supposed to have a whole bunch of different booths with stuff and people from all different countries, like a little Epcot.  But when we got there, it was near closeing time and they were doing a fashion show.  Most of the booths had alreay been torn down, so it was kind of a waste.

Yup...that's about all.  *leaves this post on that encredibly lame note*

Woo Spring!

Today is the first day of Spring!  And while it is sunny here, it's still kinda cold.  I want warmer weather, seriously, this cold is starting to bring me down.

Let's see, what all has gone on?

I finished my graduation project on Tuesday.  I'm glad it's over, it's like this huge weight got lifted off of my chest.  My project was a clarinet solo.  I performed I'll Be There For You by Bon Jovi, in front of my panel, which was made up of my Principal and the two Guidance Counselors.  They all said I did a very good job, and I got my cheesy little certificate saying that I completed the Project.

We've been working on our Senior Wills in English, since Mrs. Petrillo's in Germany (victory dance).  It's actually a lot of fun.  We get to write these 'wills' that allow us to leave our friends stuff after we graduate.  This baiscally translates into a bunch of Seniors putting inside jokes into a little booklet for all their friends to giggle at.  Mines pretty funny if I may say so...

Musical practice has been going well, we're doing Thoroughly Modern Milly.  I'm in Pit Orchestra on Bass Clarinet this year.  I thought that since Ms. Strong stuck me on it, that the music would be easier...WRONG.  It's pretty challenging, especially since it's all jazzy and dixie land style.  Darn you 1920's for liking such complicated music!

As of right now, I'm reading an Inuyasha/Sesshomaru doujin.  It's been forever since I've really been into that fandom.  But hey, it's well illustrated and I needed smut...so sue me XP
Jenny's watching American Dragon Jake Long on TV.  I hate that show with a passion, gah.

We have Friday and Monday off for Easter, so I'm not complaining.  More [adult swim] for me!

Oh well, until later, Happy Spring!  ^__^

Here's a little sketch I did when I should have been studying for an AP Gov test...it's funny and I thought I should share it.  Toki and Swkisgaar from Metalocalypse!  Sorry for the lines...like I said, this was in my Gov notebook.

Dallas Brass Kicks Ass

So, Friday we had an opportunity to go to United High School for half of the day and do a workshop with the Dallas Brass Band.

I decided to go and dear lawd!  It was great!  There were six guys in the band and they were phenomenal!  They were fantastic musicians, great at giving advice and tips, and not to mention that they were all really funny and great to hang out with.

We got there and they came out and performed a selection from "The Incredibles".  The Tub a player, Nat, did this technique called multiphonics.  Which involved him singing into his tuba and playing at the same time.  It sounded awesome and he even performed a piece that he wrote himself.  You should check it out here....REALLY

After that, the middle school students and the high school students broke up into their seperate bands and practiced the piece that they would be performing with the Dallas Brass at the concert that night.  It was really cool, the Trombonist, Mike, who wrote our piece, conducted us.

Jeff, their drummer, was there as well.  Oh boy...Jeff...*wants to marry him*  He was amazing.  The best drummer that I've ever seen, hands down.  Not only that but he was as funny as hell too!

When we were done rehearsing, we went to eat dinner and noticed that the SNOW STORM FROM HELL was happening outside.  It continued on through the night and we ended up getting around 6-7 inches on top of the 3-4 we already had.

But, despite all that, the concert went off with out a hitch.  And it was amazing too, so amazing that I bought one of their CD's so I can listen to them always.

My mum filmed the piece that we performed with them, it's on a little DVD, so I'll see if there's any way that I can upload it onto the computer.  Any help would be appreciated!  ^_^

So Regional's is finally over!  Yay!  I'm tired and sore, but I'm happy that I chose to take that opportunity.

The concert went really well, and everything got cleaned up and put away, (thankfully).  The banquet was so much fun!  We started talking about old TV shows, teachers, and Band Directors.  And after wards, I even got Nacho's e-mail and a good-bye hug!

So, other than that, not much is new.  I'll leave you with some pictures!  ^__^
